LEFKAS WEDDINGS – Lyndsay & Adam’s Wedding Part 2

The Wedding Day

The wedding day Kostas and I started work at 08:00, the weather seemed ok but a little grey until 09:00 when the heavens opened and it started to pour with rain. Frantic checking of the weather forecast assured us that the clouds were scheduled to pass over by midday so we carried on decorating!

At 11:00 I dashed to Lefkas Town dropping decorations for the taxis and the wedding boat off on the way. Collected the flowers and the fresh bread which filled the car with the most amazing smell before picking up a nervous Groom & Best Man and delivering them all back to Geni.

I then dashed back to Nidri to check all was ok with the boat and to greet the bridal party who were just arriving at the port. It had started to rain again lightly so we sent them for a pre wedding drink to the café next door while we waited to see what the weather would do next.

All ready to go inside!

All set under cover just in case!

Waiting for the bride!

Finally out in the sunshine – waiting for the bride!

Back at Seaside, the wedding guests had arrived and were enjoying Pimms and being greeted by the Groom. At about 13:50 the sun started peek through the clouds and we decided to go with an outside ceremony as planned. The guys moved the arch, table and chairs down to the terrace and the captain rang to say the bride was on her way!

As we saw the boat approaching across the bay, the Dimarkos (Mayor) phoned to say he was running five minutes late. When you have a wedding planner, this is easily overcome with a quick phone call to the boat captain!! He extended the trip around the bay to allow the Dimarkos time to join us.

The bridesmaids led the way down the jetty and were then followed by the bride and her father as they walked up to meet the Groom waiting on the terrace.

After the ceremony, everyone celebrated with a glass of Prosecco and enjoyed some nibbles whilst Adam & Lyndsay posed for photographs. The guests enjoyed a meal of Greek meze starters and salads, followed by the main courses of Gemista and Soutsoukakia.

Speeches followed, then the cutting of the beach theme wedding cake, which was served straight away and led on to several hours of dancing and celebrating. The finale of the evening was the surprise fireworks display which lit up the bay beautifully.

Congratulations Adam & Lyndsay Bowie, married at Seaside Geni Lefkada 24.05.13
