Lefkas Wedding story: Alexa & James at Seaside Geni

The best day of our lives! We loved every minute…

James and Alexa from England married in August in a pretty ceremony at Seaside Restaurant Geni. Alexa has shared with us some of their beautiful wedding photographs and was delighted to tell us more about their special day.

“We decided we only wanted a small wedding with close family and friends. We also liked the idea of making a holiday out of it! We chose Lefkas as I have been holidaying there for years with my family on sailing holidays. I introduced James to Lefkas in September 2014 and he loved it just as much as me. After researching and finding Claire at Lefkas Weddings and Seaside Restaurant we decided this was where we wanted to get married.

As all our guests were spending the week in Lefkas with us it made sense to have our hen and stag do’s there too. Claire helped by making suggestions on what we could do and we choose the evening cruises with the MS Christina, which were perfect. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and said how different it was to any other they had been on.

We had everything we wanted and more for the wedding day, Claire guided us and gave us lots of options and suggestions for each decision we made. Planning the holiday was very easy. As we have been for several years, we knew where we wanted to stay and we have a good knowledge of the local area.

Ceremony and reception

This was held Seaside Restaurant in Geni and the James and the guests cruised across from Nidri aboard the MS Christina. Alexa arrived by speedboat with her father and the pretty white jetty was the aisle she walked down to meet James for their ceremony. They chose the white organza wedding arch with white flowers to frame the stunning view.

The couple celebrated after the ceremony with prosecco and canapes and followed with a wedding dinner of a traditional Greek menu of mezedes appetizers and a choice of main courses.

The wedding dress and suits

My wedding dress I chose because I loved the detailing on it. I thought the sunshine reflecting off the beading would look lovely on the day. I found both my dress and the turquoise blue dress for my adult bridesmaid, Helen, in a local boutique. Helen has been my best friend since we met in college 17 years ago and it was lovely to have her there in Lefkas with me. The flower girls were my stepdaughter, nieces and Helen’s daughter and they wore pretty ivory dresses with gypsophila head garlands.

James and his brother loved the colours of the check material and used this for their tailored jackets. As an electrician James doesn’t get to dress in a suit very often but likes to dress smart at any opportunity he’s given, so that’s why he chose a three piece suit (even in 40 degree heat!).

The flowers and decoration

We both loved the colour theme of turquoise blue and white at Seaside Restaurant when we visited in 2014 so we chose it for the overall theme of our wedding. The simplicity and elegance of gerberas was the perfect complement to this for my bouquet and the wedding tables.

Memories

The best part of the day for myself was being able to get married in such a beautiful location and being able to say my vows in front of all my close friends and family. James’ favourite part of the day was watching me fall to pieces and cry while trying to say my vows!

Alexa & James’ top tip for a destination wedding

Consider the weather and time of day you are marrying. Don’t plan to wear a three piece suit if you are marrying abroad in August!
