A Greek Wedding in Lefkada

A very beautiful wedding that made all our guests have so much fun!”

Aggelos and Inga married in Lefkada in July at Iera Mitropolis in the island capital before hosting an evening reception for their family and friends at Ionian Blue Spa Resort. They wanted to bring together their two families in a wedding that celebrated both their Greek and Armenian heritages.

The style of the wedding was classical and elegant with Inga choosing a beautiful combination of roses in blush pinks and ivory. At the church the entrance was decorated with a pretty flower arch and the bride walked down an aisle lined with roses, hydrangeas and lysianthus set off against large panicum leaves. Inga’s delicate bouquet was an arrangement of roses, bouvardia and leucanthemum and her close family had delicate corsages of miniature roses.

Guests were greeted at the reception with champagne on the pool terrace, which has a stunning panoramic view of the Ionian Sea. As they entered the wedding dinner there was a candle lit ‘trapezi euxon’ with tempting sweets and a guest book. The reception tables were resplendent with tall vases holding pomander balls of roses and the bridal couple’s table was decorated with a long garland.

The couple entered the reception to the congratulations of their guests and chose to cut their delicious four tier cake with tumbling roses before taking a magical first dance to the song “At Last” by Etta James, lit by a sparkling backdrop of firework fountains. The wedding dinner was a plentiful buffet of traditional Greek dishes and Mediterranean cuisine.

“Planning a wedding in the beautiful island of Lefkada while living in a different country would have been impossible without the help of Claire and Tasos at Gourioti Flowers. Claire helped us so much in arranging every single detail for the wedding, as well as giving us recommendations on how to make our special day more unique and classy. During the planning process, we were offered a variety of options that combine both the international and the local element, without deviating from the Greek traditions. The result was a very beautiful wedding that made all our guests have so much fun!

Thank you so much,

Inga and Aggelos.”
